It’s with immense joy and a touch of bittersweet pride that we share some wonderful news for fans of the legendary Akira Toriyama. Just this past July, the visionary creator was posthumously inducted into the prestigious Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards Hall of Fame at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. This incredible honour, 38 years after the awards began, formally secures his place in comic book history alongside a select group of Japanese artists, celebrating his monumental influence on manga, anime, and pop culture worldwide.
The world of his beloved creations continues to thrive, too! We’re eagerly anticipating the premiere of *Dragon Ball Super: Beerus* this Fall 2026, an enhanced and recut anime adaptation of the iconic *Battle of Gods* arc, with its Japanese premiere set for Sunday, October 11. This exciting project, which features Akira Toriyama's original work, story, and character designs, promises remastered visuals and an altered script that aligns more closely with his initial vision. Fans can look forward to a special panel discussion for the anime at New York Comic Con 2026, and for those who missed it, his last supervised film, *Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero*, became available to stream on Hulu this past April.
Beyond the screen, Toriyama’s legacy also extends into the gaming world. A new *Dragon Ball* game project, "AGE 1000," featuring original characters he designed, is slated for 2027, with updates having been shared at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026. Additionally, *Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3*, which delves into this "Age 1000" era with Toriyama's concepts, was a hot topic at Summer Game Fest 2026 in June. While the *Dragon Ball Super* manga is currently on an extended hiatus, it has been confirmed that the series is far from over, keeping our hopes high for future adventures.
Have a look through their collection below — there is always something worth discovering.
