It's been a truly exciting few months for fans of the beloved illustrator Axel Scheffler! We're absolutely delighted to hear that his latest collaboration with Julia Donaldson, *Gruffalo Granny*, has been a runaway success, dominating the indie charts and selling over 100,000 copies in just its first couple of weeks this September. And the good news doesn't stop there, as we're eagerly anticipating another brand-new, as-yet-untitled Gruffalo story set to arrive this very month, marking the first new adventure in the deep dark wood in over two decades!
Beyond the pages, Axel Scheffler's wonderful creations are also taking to the stage! Just announced this September, the charming *Zog and the Flying Doctors* will be embarking on a UK and Ireland tour in 2027, kicking off at the Queen's Theatre Hornchurch. It's always a treat to see these cherished characters come to life, and this promises to be another magical theatrical experience for families.
Earlier this summer, Axel himself delighted audiences at the London Children's Literature Festival in June. Attendees had the fantastic opportunity to see him drawing his famous characters, enjoy story readings, and even get their books signed. It's clear that Axel continues to connect with his readers, young and old, bringing joy and sparking imaginations wherever he goes.
